At one time or another, most of us have wondered what it would be like to jump on the back of a motorcycle, rev the engine and head out on the open road. But what does it really take to do, and what is a biking lifestyle really like?

In our 2-Wheel Adventure section, you’ll find tips on packing a bike, information about various state laws and regulations and even a story about a great couple who are avid bikers. And if you’ve ever daydreamed about heading to Sturgis for the rally, we’ve even included a handy downloadable list of all of the KOA’s to help you plan your trip.

The Lewis’ at the Fillmore Utah KOA are the best. After a couple of minutes with them you feel as if you had been best friends forever. Dave and Corinne are friendly, personable and always have a smile.
Heck we even stop in to say ‘Hi’ when we are passing thru! Stop by the Fillmore Utah KOA and meet the Lewis family.

We’re riding from Colorado to the Black Hills in South Dakota tomorrow. Already have our reservations for the Deadwood KOA, and we’re looking forward to a great time!

Custer, South Dakota has a beautiful setting and town is just a putt away. Lovely people and a lot of fun, playing, ridin’ more ridin’ and relaxing in a beautiful place.A nice putt to Rushmore, Wall or the Badlands and so much to see of the Black Hills! Ride safe!

Custer/ Rushmore KOA just outside of Custer, SD is an excellent place to stay and the people couldn’t have been nicer. Our small group enjoyed ourselves immensely while we took in the sights and rode mile after gorgeous mile of the Black Hills. Don’t let Sturgis be the only thing the brings you and your motorcycle into a KOA…Sturgis might be the excuse but the roads are our siren’s song and KOA is our home-away-from-home while we are there.

I have to agree with you . My husband and I rode to South Dakota from Ontario Canada Aug.2011 and stayed at Rapid City KOA . the people were fabulous ,not knowing how long we were going to stay .We stayed 3 nights and made friends with fellow riders from sask.canada and went on daily rides in all directions of beautiful sights. we are going east this year and also plan to stay in KOA in New Foundland .
      Happy Riding

I am so impressed! This is a very well-written section, with good advice obviously written by people who love riding motorcycles. Thanks!

My son and I recently completed a motorcycle trip from Springville, Utah, to Chama, New Mexico. We stopped at the Moab, UT and Ouray, CO. We tented one night in Moab, but the rest of the nights were spent in Kabins, which worked out great for us. It was a wonderful way to travel, and we met so many great people on the staff and as guests at the KOAs, which were both very motorcycle-friendly.
